From a young age I’ve had a keen interest in technology: pulling apart toys and playing with science kits. When I was 12 I got my first PC and started to learn how to program.
I have continually educated myself since then in a majority of the I.T field including: security, programming, networking, data/backup, infrastructure, automation and artificial intelligence.
Courteous, fair and hardworking, I will always strive to hit deadlines and go above and beyond to find better solutions. I like to be fast working and never leave a client waiting.
I bring a wide range of experience from all areas of I.T to ISP level of networking and security compliance, to in depth troubleshooting of desktop software and applications.
By thinking outside of the box and challenging the norm, I have brought new skills to the table and replaced many systems with innovations of my own.
Some of these include: the web scraping framework – Mr. Stealy; used to scrape data from a range of different websites. Upgrading much of our web infrastructure to use best of class technology, including migrate away from legacy database systems. Upgrading and implementing redundant DNS servers, implementing WAF firewall rules and implementing PHP-FPM for faster processing.
Motivation and vision: without these two working in unison a business cannot be successful.
In order for a team to be successful there needs to be a clear direction/goal and expectations must be set.
The nature of a support position is very reactive, and interruptions are often seldom. It can get hard to keep on top of multiple tickets, tasks and projects at the same time. I use lists and note pads to my advantage to stay on top of my work.
I wish we had the capability to expand the I.T infrastructure and team. I see great value in I.T and what it can bring to the business. With the right platforms and systems, we can continue to automate processes, build out the website hosting, create new services and products.
Good management is knowing the abilities of your team and allowing them the freedom to innovate. Knowing the client’s requirements inside-out enables effective communications to produce top level results.
Automation, Artificial intelligence and Psychology are big focuses for marketing. With the recent revelations surrounding Facebook and CA, it is clear that it has already begun.
Design thinking is a solutions-based approach to problem solving. I think design thinking is critical in many aspects of my job and in marketing.
Throughout my career as a programmer I have adopted design thinking as a way to break down any given problem; obtain a better understanding of interlinking processes and the problem.
From there, you get a much better perspective on the problem and can provide solution catered to their exact needs.
Good clients are willing to listen and be open to new ideas. Also, someone who brings their own ideas to the table and wants to work with you.
Being closed-minded and not invested enough in their business’s success is what makes a bad client.
Results, awareness and reputation is the essence of good marketing.
Interestingly enough; it was actually an ex-client who put me into a very challenging situation. After a dispute with the new I.T company; they shut down all services that they relied on; including – the website, email, office internet and decommissioned their server.
The challenge was getting everything back online by the next day, without access to any passwords. After 16 hours (from 4pm to 8am next day) I had completed the challenge.
I’ve always dreamed of growing up to be a jet pilot or a spy; Growing up I am still very interested in intelligence and my favourite occupation would have to be a position in cyber intelligence.
I like to be in a state of mind where I am alert and ready for anything, whilst remaining calm and focused on the task in front of me.
People live their lives bound by what they accept as “correct” and “true”; and that’s how they define reality.
Most nights I will find myself learning about new technology; be that either through books, webinars or online courses. I enjoy spending time some of my spare time playing online games with friends and meeting new people.
When I’m not at home studying or playing games, you will find me hanging out with friends, always trying to find new adventures or brainstorming business ideas. Music is a big hobby of mine, I spend a lot of time finding new music and also like to do some D.Jing in my spare time.
For me, winding down typically involves having a glass of bourbon, playing games or listening to some relaxing music while reading a book.
