Recognising the opportunities and fulfillment a sales role has brought to my life, it’s definitely the number one thing I’ve become passionate about. I love the emotional connection you can create and help problem solve business issues.

Businesses often fail not because of bad strategy, but by poor integration and execution on the back end, operationally or on the front end in integrating systems.
The hardest thing about my job, role and the industry I work in is the inaccurate information regarding the inner workings of marketing and how serious it actually is. This in turn, I believe has caused an increase in wildly misaligned expectations.

Marketing as an industry is everlasting and everchanging. Artificial intelligence could very well develop in a way that creates all marketing based on interactions.
This means completely individualized, personalized and unique content. At this stage to complete this is unrealistic.
Design thinking is essential for a company or business to thrive consistently. New ideas and different perspectives often lead to solving problems that are ultimately preventing true success.
I think a good client would have realistic expectations, be transparent and have an invested interest towards collaboration, as oppose to delegating and having the “you work for me” attitude.
A bad client possesses the belief they should get special treatment. They need constant convincing, are unreliable for payment, apathetic and unmotivated, and lack respect. They should be investing to build a relationship and improve upon their current business foundations.
The essence of good marketing is when the brand is being positioned in a way that speaks their language and does the business full justice. If this is executed well it will help to attract the right sort of clients.
The most challenging situation a client has put me in is that they were going bankrupt and that the result overall was on me. At this point, it begs the question: how far do you go until ‘the customer is always right’ rule is unfair and unjust.

Being in sales, I truly believe the whole idea around a 9-5 job goes out the window, so unwinding after work seldom happens, however it’s a lifestyle that I’ve chosen to adopt, and I wouldn’t change it for a second.
